Introduced by On Call PR’s founder Linda Hamburger, the Yahoo^®-based Digest welcomed over 200 registered users within two months of its launch on Labor Day, September 4, 2006.  The independent open forum provides a calendar of South Florida PR and marcomm events, clubs and association listings, job board lists and directory, along with other features and updates aimed specifically at the Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County market professionals.

“I’d like to see the site become more fully featured as interest grows,” said Hamburger. “The concept is to keep the basic board free and open to marketing and communications professionals and to offer enhanced site features, perhaps provided by sponsor support or through our event mixers. The Listserve is oriented as a resource to complement other area professional trade associations and to enhance the networking of all the groups that serve our community.”

Future mixers, says Hamburger, will primarily be held at business throughout the tri-county region that may be of interest to publicists and marketing professionals such as news outlets, event production houses, and printing service shops.  Members can take time to exchange cards and get an inside look at how area vendors can help their agencies and businesses grow, as well as search for potential new hires or trade ideas and success stories.

Upcoming mixers are all ready planned. American Intercontinental University in Weston will host an event on Friday, December 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and feature brief overviews by representatives from AdFed; the Gold Coast Public Relations Council; the National Black Public Relations Society; the American Marketing Association, and other groups as well as an introduction to the university’s internship and job placement program.

ME Productions, South Florida’s largest event production company, also agreed to host an event in January 2007 at its Hollywood-based headquarters and showroom.
