South Florida Public Relations Network &
Daily Digest Mark One Year Anniversary
August 29, 2007 –
The South Florida Public Relations
Network (SFPRN) & its Daily Digest is
pleased to mark its one year anniversary
with over 480 registered marcomm
professionals from throughout Dade,
Broward and
Palm Beach
Counties. Founded on Labor
Day, September 4, 2006, the SFPRN was
established by long-term publicist and
university marketing instructor Linda
Hamburger as an adjunct to her own
consultancy, On Call PR.
“I started the PR network in order to
offer a low cost support network for our
tri-county area marcomm professionals.
It doesn’t replace the benefits of
joining a professional networking
association, but it seems to have filled
a niche in making a daily dialogue
available for our many tri-county
practitioners.”
Hamburger says she was also motivated by
the rising costs involved with
professional networking. “Those most
often in need of networking, such as
recent graduates, the underemployed or
temporarily unemployed, are the very
people who have the most trouble
attending events due to rising costs of
membership and meeting fees.
While there is great value to be
found through a professional fee-based
association, it also can be cost
prohibitive for some. In addition, this
enables someone in Dade County
to know what is going on in Broward and Palm Beach County and vice versa, should they only
want to attend an event out of their
local area now and then, without having
to search for that information.”
The network provides a one-stop shop for
information of interest to South Florida
marcomm practitioners such as links to
area professional
organizations that serve this career
niche, as well as vendor listings, and
information on support PR services, such
as price lists for media lists, clipping
services, and more.
“In its first year, the SFPRN has helped
numerous people find employment in jobs
they now enjoy as well as hosted its own
events at such locations at ME
Productions; Rosevine Winery;
American
Intercontinental University; and its inaugural event at Bad
Ass Coffee,” adds Hamburger..
The Daily Digest is free and Hamburger
says that event mixers are often
affordable because area vendors and
sponsors often off-set the fees,
enabling her to keep the costs low
through cross promotion.
